I wuv yooooooo

A few minutes ago Summer was sitting on my bed with me while I played with my laptop's webcam. She's learning the first part of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. And of course every kid knows the Barney Song!

*20 Minutes Later*

Kids are in bed now. Camryn had a hard time settling down. Joe put her in her crib and she cried and cried. I went in and had to hold her for 10 minutes or so. It's not often a 16-month-old will let you hold and cuddle them for 10 minutes straight so I didn't mind. Summer and Camryn have both always been great about bedtime, ever since they were 8 weeks old, so it's okay if they have a rough time every now and then.

I am patiently waiting for Desperate Housewives to come on at 9. I've been watching it every Sunday for the last 2 seasons I believe, so I am really into the storyline. It's getting good :)

I made lemon and caper chicken piccata for dinner tonight. It was really good!

Now I'm wishing we had gotten some cinnamon rolls at Kroger earlier.

The diaper cake was a hit I believe. She seemed to really like it and I got a lot of compliments. There were a few pictures taken at the shower, as soon as they get posted on Facebook I'm going to steal them and post them on here.

I'd better finish putting the girls' clothes away so I can get comfortable for Desperate Housewives. I hope everyone had great weekends!

Diaper Cake

I just got done with the diaper cake. I got my friend Audrey to go shopping for supplies with me right after the girls went to bed. I had promised Joe I wouldn't leave him with all three kids so that was a compromise. We went to Target first. They have great baby stuff and I knew they had a scrap-booking aisle so I figured they would have all the ribbon we would need.... and of course, I was wrong. The only ribbon they has was with the birthday stuff and they didn't have a single roll of thick brown or solid pink ribbon. So, we had to go to Wal-Mart, too. We were in a huge rush but we managed to get everything I needed.

It turned out pretty cute. I was able to fit quite a few things on there and it's got at least 90 size 1 diapers. Hopefully we can get it to the shower all in one piece. The shower is at Olive Garden and I'm bringing Summer and Camryn with me, so that should be interesting. I'm glad Nicole is going with me, she'll be able to help me shove breadsticks in their mouths to keep them happy!

Xavier is still here, passed out on the floor. He' s such a calm baby, so he's usually no problem at all. Right now I just desperately want to go to bed, so I'm hoping Nicole gets here soon.

I have not bought a single Christmas gift. I really did not want to wait till the last minute. I kept thinking I would just order gifts online. I did a lot of window shopping on Target.com, making wishlists and such for things I wanted to get the kids and others, and found a bunch of awesome stuff at urbanoutfitters.com, but didn't order anything and now I bet it's too late to get anything by Christmas. Looks like we'll be joining all of the other last minute shoppers in the rush!

This play kitchen
is the main thing I want to get for Summer and Camryn. They certainly don't need any more toys and they're too young to think, "We got jipped by Santa!" if they don't get that much, so we aren't going all out or anything. But I think a play kitchen is something any little kid would get a lot of enjoyment out of. I can remember playing with mine for years.

I'd better stop now before I start rambling. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A few words during nap time...

We got great news from Summer's doctor yesterday morning at her check-up! She does NOT have a cataract and he is very pleased with the results of her surgery!

He also said that Jack had good aim when he scratched her -- if he would have scratched any closer to the center of her eye, she may have needed a corneal transplant.

Summer has been under the care of an amazing doctor, Dr. Rychwalski. I can tell that he truly cares about her as a patient and we are so thankful for the great care he has given her. Unfortunately for us, he has gotten a job at a prestigious hospital in Cleveland and his last day was yesterday. He has assured us that her new doctor that he is transferring her to, Dr. Douglas, is very capable and he trusts him 100%. He is also located much closer to us, 5 minutes away in fact, so that's a plus. Summer will be seeing Dr. Douglas on January 6th, and at that time we will be scheduling a time for Summer to get her stitches out. They will be putting her under general anesthesia to remove the sutures and to do a thorough examination as well. Her eye will recover for a few weeks, and then she will get her glasses.

My camera is officially done for so I hinted to my parents that that's what they could get Joe and I for Christmas. They went along with that so my mom ordered a Canon Powershot for us today. Nothing fancy, but it got great reviews so that's what we went with. I will probably overload you guys with pictures once we get it.

Nakia's baby shower is tomorrow so my friend Nicole and I are each going in half on making her a really nice diaper cake. We just decided this yesterday so I don't have any of the supplies. Nicole closes at her work tonight so looks like I'll be shopping by myself. Her nursery is pink and brown (my favorite!), so I'm thinking that's how I'm going to do the cake.

I'm baby-sitting Xavier from 5-whoknowswhen since my SIL closes, so I'll probably be back later. I've gotta go take a shower while the girls nap or Joe is going to come home to a grungy, greasy monster.
