Gracie

My friend Erika had her baby girl, Grace Maria, on December 8th. I was sick with a bad cold when she had her, so I had to wait to meet her until Erika and her friend Corie brought her over on Tuesday, when she was 13 days old.

It is not a good thing to hold a baby when you already have baby fever, let me tell you. Gracie is beautiful and so tiny and sweet. I don’t remember my girls ever being this small, even though Gracie weighed a little bit more than either of them at birth.

Erika needed some pictures of her because her newborn photos didn’t turn out well, so I volunteered to take some. Gracie was over the 10 day period of being super bendable and she was wide awake the whole time, so we didn’t get to be as creative as we would have liked, but we did get a few good ones.

From a photography standpoint… I’m still using my kit lens (Nikon AF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5) and dreaming of the day I get a 55mm f/1.4 lens, so with that plus the low light in my house due to the cloudy day and lack of windows (we only have windows in the front and back of the house so the lighting is only decent at certain times in the day), most of these photos were shot in AP mode, at F/4, SS 1/25, ISO 1600. So, there is way more noise than I would have liked and a not-shallow-enough depth-of-field.
