This past weekend was so much fun!
My cousin Richard, who is 17, was recently chosen as Keyboardist of the Year in a competition held by a really popular local bar. As the winner, he and the other winners formed an All-Star band and had a performance on Saturday night. To see him up there, the youngest winner in the 25 year history of the competition, holding his own with seasoned performers was amazing.
Pic borrowed from my uncle’s Facebook. Rich is on the far left.
On Sunday, we went to a local play place called Puzzle’s Fun Dome to celebrate my cousin Andrea’s 21st birthday. Yes, we went to a kid’s play place for a 21-year-olds birthday party. Didn’t you want to jump in bouncy houses when you turned 21??
The velcro wall was a hit.
Even Summer and Camryn tried it!
Andrea talked her parents into trying it… I think it made her day.
We were worn out after a few hours there, but we weren’t ready to go home yet. We decided to take Summer and Camryn to a new park that we hadn’t been to yet.
This place was so neat! Half of it was a splash area with all kinds of sprinklers, and the other half had a really big playground with all kinds of things to do.
We didn’t get there till 7pm, so it was a little chilly with the sun going down, but they still had a great time.
We will definitely be going back there often!
Monday afternoon, we went to my aunt Mary Jo and Uncle Jeff’s house for their annual 4th of July party. We stayed there for a few hours, visiting with everyone, eating good food, and lighting off some really small fireworks. (Summer said, “Uh… aren’t they supposed to go up in the air?”)
We left around 7:30 and headed to a neighborhood that has a huge picnic every year. There were hundreds of people, lots of booths, and live music. We spread out out blankets and chairs, ate ice cream, and relaxed.
We ended the night with a firework show that managed to impress Summer. It was a great day!
