The Details

Thank you so much for all of the congratulations and well-wishes!

We found out exactly one week ago. I took a test last Friday that was negative. I still hadn’t gotten my period on Sunday and thought I’d take another test, because I’m really impatient. I was expecting another “Not Pregnant” on the screen so when I saw “Pregnant” I was so surprised. I walked into the living room, sat next to Joe on the couch, and handed it to him. I wish I would have come up with some creative way to tell him but like I said, I’m impatient!

We told the girls the following day. They had the biggest grins on their faces. I know they are going to be amazing big sisters.

Joe and I both started to feel strongly about having another baby last year but wanted to wait until we got our kitchen finished, he got his plumbing license, and both girls were completely potty-trained, among other things. All of that happened and here we are, 5 weeks pregnant. I know a lot of people don’t announce their pregnancies this soon, but we have such a close circle of family and friends that it would be impossible to keep a secret. We spent the last week telling them all. I knew we would be seeing a lot of them over the weekend and wanted to tell them in person, which is why I waited to talk about it on here and Facebook.

According to the calendar, this baby was conceived right around the time that Camdin passed away. Coincidence or divine intervention? Either way, that makes it even more meaningful and special.

We are enjoying having a planned pregnancy. It’s no secret that both of the girls were surprises, so this is a new experience. Everyone seems a little happier for us than they were back then, and we have a lot less to worry about this time around. When we got pregnant with Summer, we were both living with our parents still, money was close to non-existent, and we had no idea what we were doing. Flash forward to now, and we’re married, own a home, Joe has a great job, and we’re baby pros.

We feel really relaxed about the whole thing and are looking forward to what is to come. Hopefully morning, afternoon, and night sickness is not part of it like it was with the girls!

The pictures in this post are from Summer’s end-of-the-year school picnic on Friday morning.

I already said congrats on the last post but hey! congrats again! My pregnancy now is also the only one we have ever "planned." It's a totally different feeling, isn't it? I am much more excited and at the same time much calmer about it all.
I am glad that this has come at such a good time in your lives. I am jealous of the potty training however, my two boys are still trying to get the hang of it. :)
so happy for you!
