I had a super busy but wonderful birthday today.
This morning I took Summer to preschool, came home, took a shower, cleaned the house and did laundry (Nope, no break for mom. The only day I refuse to do stuff around the house is Mother’s Day!), then Camryn and I headed back out and picked Summer up.
We went straight to my parents’ house to pick my mom up to meet my Nanaw and great aunt Mary Jo for lunch. We had a bit of time before we had to be there so the girls helped my mom ice my birthday cake.
Red velvet with cream cheese frosting… yum.
We got to the restaurant right at one. Nanaw and Mary Jo had balloons set out on the table, which made me super happy. You can’t have a birthday without balloons!
I got a chicken wrap with cucumbers, feta cheese, and spinach on flat bread… it was delicious.
It’s always great to spend time with some of my favorite people!
After lunch, my mom, the girls, and I went back to her house to meet my dad, then we left again to go to my great uncle’s visitation. There were so many people there coming and going… he was a very loved and respected man.
My dad needed to stay at the visitation, so just my mom and I left and I dropped her off at her house, then headed home. Joe got home from work around 5:30, with these beautiful flowers….
Right after that, my mom arrived with Fazoli’s and we ate a big ol’ meal.
Then our friend Kenny, my aunt Susan and cousin Richard, and one of my best friends, Jillia, came over. Jillia brought a bunch of ice cream… she knows me well.
After cake and ice cream, I opened presents and cards. I really wasn’t expecting anything at all since my parents had gotten me my new lens, so I was pleasantly surprised by a set of Pyrex bowls. My mom had asked permission to give me something so practical weeks ago - because I mentioned that I didn’t have enough glass bowls - but I had completely forgotten. It was fine with me, I get excited over kitchen equipment!
I also got a Starbucks gift card from Joe and the girls, and a Forever 21 gift card from Susan and Rich, which both made me super happy. Then I opened a gift from Jillia… it was a camera tripod! She wanted to get me some kind of camera accessory and had asked Joe what I needed. I love them!
I will totally own the fact that I cut my arm fat out of this picture.
I’d say my 24th birthday was a success, and I have all my wonderful family and friends to thank for that!
UPDATE: I just found out that I was nominated as Blog of the Month at For the Love of Blogs. I feel so honored to have been nominated alongside some really amazing blogs, on my favorite blogging community. I let out such a loud girly squeal when I saw my name there, I woke Joe up!
