Time for my Close-Up

Notice the new digs around here? I wanted something clean, simple, and fresh. I love it, I hope you all do, too. I’ll be able to change the pictures in the header out easily, too, which I love!

Another reason I wanted a change was so I could post bigger pictures. You see, I have recently fell in love with my camera. The same one I have had for threee years. My little Canon Powershot has always taken decent pictures, but it was nothing special. Then a few weeks ago, I discovered the Macro option.

With a Macro lens, you can take super close-up pictures in focus. Amazing. I know, most of you knew this, right?

I thought I needed a fancy $700 camera to take great close-ups, but surprisingly, this is not the case!

I know the pictures I have taken are no where near the quality I would get if I did have one of those big ol’ black cameras with the fancy lenses, but it’s better than I thought I could do, so I’m going to show them off.

Christina over at Pooh’s Corner (check it out, it’s one of my favorites) is a great photographer and posted some macro shots today. She linked up with Blogging From Bolivia for Macro Friday. Since I wanted to share my new “skill” – skill used loosely here – with you all, it was perfect timing for me to link up, too.

Here is my Macro Photo of the Week – Blooms from my mom’s snowball bush:

These photos are great! I have a Canon point & shoot too and I don't know what I'd do without the macro option! :)

I love the bread and ice photos... Taking close-ups of those random, day to day things can be so fun!

And those flowers are gorgeous!! I especially love the middle one... it almost looks like it has a reflection below.

Great job! Thanks for entering :)

I LOVE the ice cubes in your Dr. Pepper! How unique! I just may have to steal that idea for a post I'm doing next week!

I love the snowball bush photo! I love those!
I don't know if you use textures, but that bread would make a great one. Really neat idea!

I have a sturdy little point-and-shoot with a macro option, too! Just as you pointed out, it's not as crisp as a DSLR, yet your photos here are great! I think my favorite is the first one of the white flowers.
