All the sudden, we hear a very loud, "CRACK CRACK THUD..... CRRRRACK THUD THUD CRAACCCKK..." The noise stops about 15 feet away from us, to the left.
We freeze and listen.
Joe was thinking, "We heard our first deer of the day!"
I was thinking, "OH NOOOOO, IT'S THE VOLTURI!!!"
Seriously. I was paralyzed with fear of imaginary vampires.
Please tell me that would have been your first reaction, too.

That would have so been my first thought. I would have freaked out and wanted to go back home that instant! Glad to know you are ok!
OMG the minute I saw the picture you posted I knew. I would have though the same thing. We are so lame and funny. Gotta love it!!!!!
That picture is amazing, and my immediate thought would have been something similar. Some variation of a "bad guy" coming after us or a vicious animal or something, lol.
I would have been back to the car the first sound that I heard.
Actually, my first thought probably would have been Jason from Friday the 13th. LOL
I woulda been SO scared!!!!!
The hubs and I always joke when it's an eerie night that the lichens are out...a la Underworld!
LMAO You crack me up! I would have been thinking it was some animal about to attack us! LOL
I am with Bridgett on this one, I would have thought some monster of some sort from some stupid movie would be coming to get me. I would have froze and never moved...lol.
