Many Generations

I'm not sure how much more sanding, painting, dust, and fast food I can take. Things are coming along, but it seems to be happening at a slower pace than when we first started.

Today, we went to Home Depot and got a lawn mower. We have a lawn mower at this house but it technically belongs to my Grandmother so we picked out our own today. After that we headed over to the house and Joe tore out a lot of the old kitchen flooring. We got to know the older generations of our kitchen a bit. We found...

brown peel and stick squares on the top

geometric white shapes in the middle

and groovy green, yellow, and orange on the bottom.

Camryn and Summer loved watching Joe tear everything apart. Summer said, "Daddy's breakin the kitchen!" (On a side note: I'm sick of every picture of them being obstructed by pacifiers. I think I know of two girls who are going to be visited by the Paci Fairy some time soon...)

I didn't stay too long to help. It got late quick and I took the girls home and put them to bed. Joe said his dad is going to go over there tomorrow afternoon to help finish the flooring removal and some other projects. I'm really glad to hear that because Joe's dad gets him motivated to work. They made a lot of progress last weekend.

Something very sad that you may or may not have heard. There was an 8-year-old girl, Sandra Cantu, from Tracy, California that was missing for 10 days. I had been following the story closely, hoping and praying she would be found alive. Unfortunately, yesterday morning a large suitcase was found in an irrigation pond. Tracy law enforcement announced yesterday night at a press conference that the suitcase contained the body of Sandra.

My heart is broken for her family. I can only hope that Tracy LE is very close to bringing the monster who did this to justice. They are working around the clock and seem to have several good leads and persons of interest, so I don't think it will be long. I personally think that whoever is responsible should be castrated and thrown onto an island of cannibals.

Rest in peace, Sandra

Time for bed. Hope you're all having a great week so far!

That is so sad about Sandra. I haven't even heard about it.

I know how you feel about the house. I painted run room in my moms new house and I'm so over it.

This is the first I've heard of this or I would've been like you and followed the story. Very, very sad. Makes you want to hold onto your kids a little tighter.

On a brighter note, glad to see things are coming along with the house. What generation flooring are you putting in the kitchen?

ok..i honestly never would have thought that people would lay new flooring over old flooring like that! That yellow/green tile is definitely groovy ;)

It looks like it's coming along really well. Y'all are doing a gret job remodeling your house.

It's tragic what happened to that little girl. I can't even think up a justifiable punishment for that crime. Poor angel. ...that graphic makes me tear up every time I see it.

WoW! A whole lot of generations!

I have been following Sandra's story too. I cried when I heard. It is just so sad. This world can be a very cruel place. She was a beautiful child.

I pray somehow that her family can find comfort, but I dont know how. Its all so very sad.

The sad thing is... I've been around for all of those kinds of floors. :oD

We're sad about Sandra too. Except for the fact that she now lives with Jesus.

Our house was the same way when we first bought it. It's worth the work you put in though!

So very sad about that little girl. So awful that there are so many horrible people in the world that will do things like that to innocent children. :(

Great work on the kitchen floor.

PS I wanted to thank you for posting about the Tuesday Blog Party. It means so much to me and I am certain it means the world to the Whitt family.

Have you seen Finding Nemo??? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming...it must feel like that for y'all and the house! Keep going...it's going to be so great!

I can't imagine what the family of little Sandra must be going through right now! It is the most horrible thing to face, I would imagine!

PS - I left something for you on my blog.

my mom told me about that little girl earlier. so very sad.

ohh tip for losing the pacis.. it went fairly easy with olivia when I did it with her... take kitchen scissors and nip the tips of all of them. then let them have them all they want. they will still be able to stick them in their mouths but don't get the sucking comfort. lots of whining at first...but yeah youre not new at the mommy thing...i'm sure you hear it anyhow. right? LOL :)

hope the remodel goes along well. i'm so behind so congrats on the house!!!

xoxo

Is it sad I actually liked that green, yellow, and orange tile? LOL

You guys have really been working hard. But I bet the progress is amazing if you just take a step back and look at the big picture. I can only imagine how overwhelming and tiring it is though.

I was sickened when I heard about this little girl found in the suitcase. I have to agree with you about the island of cannibals. Was she sexually assaulted too?

Have fun being the pacifier fairy! LOL

XOXO

I am so glad to FINALLY read your blog again! I haven't had my computer for a few weeks and it was KILLING me. I have not heard about that little girl, it just makes my heart hurt. I'll be praying for her family. I just can't imagine what they are going thru. I just don't understand how people can be so evil.

Wow thats lots of generations of floors, lol. Glad though everything with the house is all coming together. Sounds like you all are getting so much done which is great. I know once it is all complete its going to look amazing ;) Glad the girls are doing good too. The pic of them is soo cute as always :) Uggh and i can get what you mean too about being sick of the fast food. Soon enough though just think you will be cooking your yummy food in your brand new home. I read about Sandra, *sigh* poor baby girl. May she rest in peace. I really hope and i have a feeling, they will too find that p.o.s soon who did it. It just makes me so sad and also so sick. It makes me hold on to D much tighter. This world is becoming more & more scary :( Take care hun, ttys xo

Do your girls not chew holes in their binkies? Keely started biting hers and making holes in them at some point and I just told her once all of the ones she had(maybe like 3 or 4 total) got holes in them they were gone...each time she chewed a hole in one it went in the trash and I made her put them in the trash. And she never whined one bit when she had to throw the last one away...I guess she was just old enough to know it was time to let them go. Of course a couple months later she kindly took up the habit of thumb sucking...which she still does now at 3, but it's usually only at night or when she's tired during the days.
