Welcome, 2009!

We started off the new year nicely. My parents had us, some family, and some friends over to celebrate last night. We ate quite a bit, played with the kids, played some games, and made a huge mess at midnight. Summer and Camryn really surprised us. We figured they would be asleep by 1o or 11, but Summer lasted until we got him at 3:00 and Camryn lasted until 1 or so.

Here we are playing a game with quarters. I forget the name. It involoves rolling dice. It's quite fun :-)

This is my good friend Jillia. She ended up coming at the last minute and I'm glad. I've known her since 6th grade!

Summer enjoyed hitting her daddy with the balloon.

I always wear this hat on New Year's Eve.

Just a smidgen of the aftermath...

Camryn finally crashed on Grandmom's lap.

Today we slept as late as the girls let us (noon!), sat around being lazy, and then went to my parents' house for dinner with them and my brother. My mom always makes a traditional New Year's Day meal of ham, black eyed peas, cabbage, and corn bread. This year she had rolls instead of corn bread and added in grean beans and it was delicious. We left there around 8 and the girls were asleep by the time we got home 10 minutes later.

Camryn wasn't too happy when we first got there. We had to wake her up from her nap in the car.

Being silly during dinner...

I have a feeling that I'll know when my mom reads this entry, when she calls me and yells at me for posting this one... I personally think she looks lovely:

As we pulled into our driveway I realized I hadn't taken a picture of our house with the lights on it so I had Joe run in and plug in the tree. We'll probably be taking them down in the next week so I wanted to make sure I got a few.

After I got the pics of the house, we went to the car to get the girls out.... they were fast asleep and I managed to capture the image of the elusive ghost that haunts our garage. Pretty scary looking, but he's harmless.

I carried Camryn straight to her crib, she didn't wake up at all. (You'll have to stand on your head to see this one properly. The image uploader has a mind of it's own.)

I think I'm finally done. I've been trying to finish this since 10:30. My brother is over and he and Joe are playing Halo 3. Hopefully not for too much longer though because Joe is working tomorrow, bright and early.

OH! I didn't end up getting Summer and Camryn that kitchen for Christmas that I want them to have so badly. The price jumped up a good $75 or so right before I was going to order it, so I decided to wait. I ended up finding it on eBay last week for a bit cheaper and went ahead and ordered it. It's due to arrive tomorrow so hopefully it does. I'm so excited, I can't wait to play for the kids to play with it.

I hope you all had happy holidays. Here's to a wonderful 2009 for us all!
