Uh, hi there.

So, here I am, a month later. I was verbally assaulted at a lunch date with family the other day for not updating in a month. I’m really sorry. Life has gotten in the way a bit, but hopefully, now that I’m feeling better, I can get back to regular updates.

What we have been up to this Summer (besides me throwing up):

*Swimming – Summer has learned to swim a bit. She can’t go long distances but she can get herself a few feet both under and above water without touching. She worked for what seemed like hours on it, I’m so proud of her! Camryn is still wearing swimmies but I bet she will learn to swim next Summer in no time.

*Staying indoors – Unfortunately, we had a really long stretch of just about 100 degree temperatures that prevented it from being anything but miserable outside. It definitely kept us from going to the park or riding bikes as much as I thought we would have.

*Getting ready for school – Summer starts kindergarten this year! We had a party with the other kindergarteners at a park a few weeks ago. Summer got to meet her teacher and some of her classmates. The first day of school was supposed to be Monday, but it was cancelled. Which leads me to the next point of discussion…

*Losing power – We had a storm roll through the area on Sunday. It only lasted about 5 minutes but caused tons of damage around the city, and knocked down power lines everywhere. We were out until yesterday afternoon. Schools lost power and a bunch were without phone access or internet, so the first day of school was postponed, and then postponed again yesterday. We got word that it will officially without a doubt begin tomorrow. Summer is really excited!

*Finding out what the fifth and final member of the Mullins family is - I went in for a check-up with a  new doctor a little over a week ago when I was right at 16 weeks, and they decided to do an ultrasound to do measurements and check on everything. I was told that they might be able to tell what the gender was, so I took the girls with me. My mom had planned on going since Joe was at work, but he got off early, so he came instead. The doctor was running really behind because he had to go deliver some babies, so we were waiting for around 3 hours. They finally got me back to the ultrasound room and the tech said, “It might be too early to tell what it is,” as she was looking around the screen. I was so anxious… I’d been dying to know what we were having, as had Joe and everyone else we know. I offered to do jumping jacks to move things around a bit, but it wasn’t necessary, because a few minutes later, she said, “That might just be a penis!” My heart jumped. I’m not going to lie… if it had been another girl, we would have been disappointed for a few minutes. I could see the astonishment and happiness on Joe’s face. I looked at the nurse, and said, “Are you 100% sure?” I wasn’t expecting her to say yes, but she did. “100%”

We were dying to tell everyone, but wanted our parents to hear it first. Joe’s dad lives kind of far out of town, so he went ahead and texted him a picture or the sonogram. His response? “Good job, I was starting to wonder if you had it in you.”

Since my parents live close, we decided to do something fun. I texted them and told them we knew what we were having and that we’d tell them in a bit. Then when we left the doctor’s office, we stopped by Target and got a onesie that said “Little Brother”, a blue and brown stuffed dog, and a white gift bag with pink and blue tissue paper. We wrapped the onesie and dog up in alternating layers of pink and blue and stuck them in the bag. When we got to my parents house, we forbid the girls from speaking, and gave the bag to my parents. They each opened a part of it, and were super excited when they finally saw what was in there.
