A memory is still a memory even if it is a sad one. I don’t know if it’s weird to want to remember these moments, but I do.The sky was a gloomy gray that morning, but as the minister finished his prayer beside her casket at the burial, the sun burst through the clouds, as if someone flipped a switch. Our limo driver was a man named Harold Thom, member of the folk/bluegrass band The Cumberlands. After the burial, we went to my aunt Susan’s house for the wake. My mom’s cousin Diane had traveled up from Charlotte, NC. It was really great to see her. (L-R: my mom, aunt Ann, Diane, aunt Susan)We did our best to turn a sad time into time well-spent with family. mini photo shoot
Things are starting to get back to normal around here. I still feel like I have a cold but I’m quite a bit better than last week. I’m mainly just mentally and emotionally drained at this point. Joe is off work today so hopefully I can get some rest after I pick Summer up. Probably wishful thinking, though. I’ve got lots of design work to do that I haven’t had time to work on this week, and I think I just heard my laundry mocking me when I walked past it.
I’ll announce the PreFenz giveaway winner later today… sorry I haven’t done that yet.

even though it was a sad day you got some wonderful photos. we like to say that when a family friend passed they would have remarked, "well, it was a horrible way to do it, but at least i managed to get all my family and friends together."
So sorry about your Grandmother, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It looks like she had a beautiful service. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, your mom and aunt look so much alike! Great photos.
I'm so sorry about your grandmother. I would want to remember too.
Great pictures. What a nice looking family!!
I don't find it weird at all. My friend came and took pictures at Carleigh's service and at the cemetery and we even videotaped the service. So it seems normal to me. Unless you and I are both weird.
Hugs to you! I think your grandma would be so happy to see you all celebrating her life and coming together as a family.
Wonderful photos, despite the sadness of the day. It seems like your family makes the most of life!
I really love this post and the pictures. It shows life even as a loved one is being put to rest. Your grandmother would have loved these photos, I'm sure.
