I haven't been able to blog about this yet, because I am still so upset about it, but I don't have a choice... it happened, it is a part of our history. (Don't worry, I am being slightly dramatic.)
I was folding clothes on my bed. Summer and Camryn were playing in the living room.
I went in to check on them and get ready to make dinner. Summer was sitting at the table playing with a toy and Camryn was running around. Summer pointed to a spot on the carpet and said, "Look!" I glanced over and saw a small pile of something soft and yellow. Looked a bit like a piece of a toy they had. I said, "Oh, yep," and went back to clearing off the counter. They rip things apart a lot, it wasn't anything new.
As I loaded some dishes in the dishwasher, I saw my scissors in the sink. I picked them up, and saw a bunch of hair sticking out from between the blades.
Suddenly, I realized what that pile of soft stuff had been. I ran over, and began picking up clumps of Camryn's hair off of the floor. Then, I ran over and picked Camryn up. As I examined her head, I saw lots of hair missing. Lots. She had a mullet!
Summer quickly fessed up to giving her little sister a trim. She seemed proud of herself.
I am so glad that it wasn't as bad as it could have been, and neither one of them hurt themselves with the scissors. But I am so upset that my beautiful baby girl is missing half of her hair. She was practically bald up until her 2nd birthday, and her hair had finally started to fill out. Now we're back at square one.
Luckily, most of it is still long enough to go up into a tiny ponytail, so the destruction can be hidden when we go out in public.
I guess I knew something like this was bound to happen. Who doesn't have a tale of getting their hair cut by a sibling when they were little?
Scissors are now on top of the fridge, and kids have been lectured about unauthorized hair cutting. From now on, I think we will leave it up to the professionals.
I will get a picture of her new 'do up soon, so you can get the full effect. The girls just left to spend a few hours with Grandmom so I can take a nap and fight off this cold, so I'll have to take it later. I'll just add it to this post, so check back for an update.

LOL...oh my.
I'm lucky. My kids have never given each other haircuts. At least not yet.
And I bet Camryn looks cute with a mullet. :)
Hey, mullets are cool!
In a Billy Raye Cyrus kinda way!!
My daughter twirled out pretty much all of her hair when she was 2! It grew back thick and curly!
my little one gave her OWNSELF a haircut!! no sister needed...yep, just chopped it off RIGHT IN THE FRONT!! no hiding that!
:)
Oh my!! I laughed so hard when I read this! I have 3 sisters, so you bet we cut each others' hair whenever we had the chance!! It's like a right of passage... :)
yep i have cut my brothers hair - Kadie cut Austins hair - and Austin cut Kadies hair WHILE SHE WAS SLEEPING.....and she was GASP - get ready for it - in the 7th grade!!! It was dramatic - so dramatic that i had to hide in my room and giggle so as not to traumatize her - I let her stay home from school and made her an appt asap with ms vivian...lol
oh n!!! Glad it's just mullet... it could've been much worse!!!
Oh my goodness. Yes I think we all have tales of that.
My youngest actually gave haircut to himself and his two cousins. It wasn't pretty.
Hey remember Mullets are cool!
Business in the front PARTY in the back!
I hope it grows out soon. I went through the same thing recently. I about freaked!
Oh no! Haha! Mullets aren't THAT bad...
:)
Looking forward to the picture
LOL, ohhhh noooo! Well, like you said, I think we've all heard the stories or seen this happen first hand! At least it's a haircut that can be concealed with a pony, it could have been worse!
oh no! my brother cut my hair when I was little! it happens!
I've totally given myself haircuts before...more then once...I think every kid does at some point...btw did you get my email?
When my Nicci was about 2 years old, she decided to give herself a haircut. Poor thing looked like a boy when she was done. I was so mad and upset. LOL
I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure Camryn still looks like a cutie pie even with a mullet :)
LMAO You know what is hilarious Stephanie, your kids are the same age difference as my sister and I are ... when we were around the same age my hair was up in a ponytail and my sister couldn't get it out so she got the scissors and CUT IT OFF. : x
I think my Mom felt the way you feel.
Her gorgeous hair will grow back though and just think of how great this memory will be to laugh at in about 20 years LOL
One of my friend's girls did the same thing this week. :) Guess I'm glad Summer is an only child (but not really). Hope you get to feeling better soon!!!
LOL Had to happen....can't wait to see lol!! Cass
Oh my gosh! My sister and I never did that to our own hair but we used to cut our barbies' hair. I hope Camryn's hair will grow fast!
LOL At home haircuts must be a rite of passage for children, my then 3 year old gave herself a haircut and it was BAD!!! We had to taker her in to fix the cut and she ended up getting a boys haircut but rocked it until a child at the pool asked why a boy was wearing a girls swimsuit, Jordan said VERY loudly - I'm not a boy, I'm a very pretty girl!!! Two years later we still keep the scissors on the fridge. Can't wait to see the photos of the mullet.
Oh no!! I do not have a story yet but it would not SURPRISE me one bit if that did happen..lol. Right now our scissors are on top of the fridge too..If I could just keep my kids clothed I would be happy, the take their clothes off all the time.. never a dull moment!
Ok so where is the pic!?! LOL Don't torture us anymore!
Omg, hysterical! Get a pic up soon girl!
LOL :)
...hey, I came up as Glen Allen on your traffic feed :)
