Warts and All

When I was in the fifth grade, I developed a wart on my left knee. It was in the same spot that my dad had one. Weird, right? I was so self-conscious about it. Every second of the day at school, I was making sure none of my classmates could see this wart. Oh, the embarrassment I would have endured if anyone had seen it!

This lasted a year or so, until the wart removing medicine melted it away. Looking back, I have to laugh about how ridiculously worried I was about that damn thing. It was a tiny flesh-colored spot. Perfectly normal, very common. If only I had this same feeling back then.

I do not want my kids to worry about their warts. I am hoping that I can help them develop the mind-set that little things like that should simply not register on their self-conscious scale. They have no warts yet, but they do have a few adorable little freckles. I have made it clear to them that I love their freckles and they make them even more beautiful. Hopefully in their minds, freckles will translate into warts, body shape, weight, and every other aspect of loving themselves the way they are.

I couldn't agree more!! As you have seen Bird has a birth mark on her jaw line. Dr. says it will fade away, and it is starting to get much lighter. Until then though I always give her a little kiss on it and tell her it's her very own special angel kiss from above.

I think it's so important to teach our girls to be confident and not ashamed of their bodies. They are perfect just the way they are!

Well said! I look back and think the same thing...I was worried about THAT? Lol.

Btw, Ry has a wart on her thumb. Do they go away or do you have to remove them?

That is funny! When I was little I had a freckle on my index toe, when I would ride bikes with my friends I would always cross my big toe over it so they wouldnt see it! How silly is that!!
My daughter has a wart on her knee, luckly it doesn't bother her!

Freckles, moles, warts....they are all just marks that God gave us. I love Chases freckles and even the huge birth marks that he has. Your children will love them one day too. :)

I'm glad Summer has never really made a big deal or been self-concious about the hemangioma on her forhead. It is slowly fading, but she is still beautiful with it. She also has a few moles and I just love them!! Your girls are adorable, as always....in every way!

Oh sweety, I so agree with you on what you said. Beauty is how you are on the inside, the type of person you are. It really shines thru how you look on the outside too. God made us all differently for a reason. Its beautiful that every1 is so unique. I think its awesome your teaching your girls that, to be confident & feel good about themselves. I teach D the same thing. I love the new blog look, you changed it again lol. I enjoyed the last entry too. It looked like you all had a great day swimming. I loved the pics. Hope you have a good day hun xo

I got a wart on one of my knees in about 8th grade and was very self conscious of it too. I finally used some of that wart stuff and made it go away. I also want the same things for my girls, for them to not be self conscious about all the little things. To love their body as it is, and not think they need to be perfect.

And I had one on my shin. HATED that thing.

But I do the same thing now...I'm always kissing my kid's freckles and telling them how cute they are. Autumn has one on her foot too. :)
