Home Inspection, Doctor Appts., etc.

Today we had the home inspection done on the house we are buying. It was also appraised by the bank-hired appraiser to make sure it appraises for as much as or more as our loan. Getting a loan was contingent on that. Thank goodness, it appraised for more! We also had a termite inspection done.

The home inspector spent a few hours looking around and didn't find much more than a missing shingle and a loose handrail. The only thing that we are going to have to fix for sure is a leak around the fireplace on the roof. We had to have that done on the house we are in now as well, I don't remember it being too expensive. The termite inspection turned up nothing. So, we are for sure moving forward on buying this house and are so excited!

I took some pictures on my phone. I'll post them, but they are not good quality at all. I'll definitely take some more "before" pictures before we start remodeling.

Here's the dining area. And the ugly red carpet. And the chandelier.

One of the bedrooms

Other bedroom

Full bath

1/2 bath. Flowered wallpaper painted over in bright orange. Lol.

Master bedroom

Living room

Kitchen. This picture actually makes it look better than it does.

Hallway and basement stairs

Front door. At least that's nice and new!

That's all I got. I should have brought my camera. I couldn't take any pictures of the basement because there weren't any light bulbs in the light fixtures.

Now comes the fun stuff. We have already priced kitchen appliances. We're going with "clean steel" as opposed to stainless. Less fingerprints was all I had to hear to make that decision! We've chosen a nice brownish neutral carpet for the whole house. We would like to do hardwood but that would completely blow our budget so we're going to wait on that. Someday....

Tomorrow I've got to take Camryn to the doctor for her 18 month check-up. I can't believe she is already that old!! My mom will be watching Summer for me, and then we're going to take my car to get new exhaust. It has been making weird noises for awhile now.

Friday, we are taking Summer to the children's hospital to have her stitches taken out of her eye. They will be putting her under, because they are also going to do an in-depth exam to make sure everything looks okay. We're going to be putting a ton of eye drops in her eye for awhile after this. Hopefully that goes better than it did last time.

Yesterday was Caylee Anthony's memorial service. I watched it live online. It was less of a circus than I thought it would be. In fact, the music that was sung and the words spoken by her family were very beautiful. Hopefully this can be a bit of closure for them. A calm before the storm that is the trial against Casey Anthony.

I've got to get up pretty early tomorrow to get a shower before I take Camryn to the doctor so I am going to try to go to bed now. Hope you're all having a good week!

Sorry to hear about your poor babe and the stitches.
My daughter once had a very dangerous eye virus that consisted of multiple visits...eye drops..a metal eye opener being placed in there b/c she would not cooperate..so, I feel for you.
I will say a prayer for all of you:)

I can't wait to see what you do with the place. It looks like it has some good bones.

I hope tomorrow goes well and then Friday goes well too. Hopefully the eye drops won't be as much of a problem as they were last time.

Oh yea...that red carpet HAS to go. LOL There's no accounting for people's taste, is there?

I think this house has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see what you do with it. It'll be so much fun to watch the transformation. So please take lots of pictures. :)

I hope when Summer has her stitches removed and they do the in-depth exam, that everything is okay. Keep us posted on that.

XOXO

Wow.. That is some bright orange. But it looks like it won't be hard to make that house a beautiful house! I like the kitchen. Are the cabinets black? I LOVE black cabinets. I am seriously thinking of trying to paint mine in the Spring. I've saw lots of blogs where they've done it. If you don't watch HGTV already, you should. They have tons of decorating/remod shows on there. They do it for little $$ too.

I hope Camryn does okay for you at the docs. It's hard to watch your kids in pain. :(

The house sure has a lot of potential, you're right about that! I'm so happy it's working out for you guys :)

I hope all goes well for the kids at the docs :)
